vacation: us in rockport, tx

We had a fantastic week away a couple of weeks ago.
We went down to Rockport, which is Zach's mom's family's vacation spot. Usually, we have a lot of people down there, this year it was a little quieter, but still a lot of fun.

Liam went swimming for the first time of any real consequence, and is just a little fish. We had to buy a couple of floatation devices because he did NOT want us touching him. He wanted to swim by himself and by the end of the week, he was. He had figured out how to keep his head straight up, his body upright... he's just all about those gross motor skills.

One day, we went to Port Aransas for lunch, and then on to Corpus to go to the Aquarium. Both big hits- Liam decided to take his meal to go, though.
IF you're ever in Port A, make sure you get yourself to the Port Aransas Brewing Company. They are yummylicious.

Did I mention Liam's a water baby?
He discovered how much fun it is when Dad throws him, and even worked out his own little gesture to let Zach know when he was ready to go again. Be looking for v-i-d-e-o in a future Toddler Tuesday.

On our last day, we headed over to Big Tree to get pictures. Steph said they have pictures of everyone in front of Big Tree, and since it was Liam's first time to Rockport, we needed one of him too. Poor tyke didn't sleep very well (none of the 3 of us did) on vacation, so he passed out hard in the car and wouldn't wake up. Boy was AT Big Tree, but didn't see it.

This last photo is my favorite. That's four generations in one photo-- I just wish Liam had been awake and smiling because I love the picture of everyone else.

We had a wonderful week.
This year was our "stay closer to home, calm" vacation. Next year it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong. Yeah, I said it. Next year is our big family vacation to Orlando, and it's going to be a trip and a half.
Oh, and mine and Liam's first time to Austin will be next year too, for the Formula 1 race in July. Yep.
