December 5, 2010

holiday wrap up.

 I have a confession.
I could blog every day. Really, I could.
But?

... I loathe uploading pictures. I always have a bundle on my camera, prepped and ready to be edited and posted, but I truly hate loading them onto my computer. Hence, I don't blog every day.

Apologies. I have decided to attempt to challenge myself and try and blog-- and more importantly, upload pictures-- every day this month. THIS will be quite the undertaking because bar none, this is the busiest month of the year.

Today, we'll cover everything from the last few weeks. Tomorrow, who knows? Maybe it'll just be a picture of Liam bumming around the house, but hopefully, it will be something.

Thanksgiving was a jolly, happy, fun filled time for our family. My mom invited us over, and my in-laws, and Zach's sweet Grandma Dorothy. Then we talked Liam's Godfather (really, we had to twist his arm *so* hard ;) ) into joining us, as well. He arrived Wednesday and stayed through Sunday and it was wonderful to get to spend so much time with him just having fun together.

Liam loves Cory!

We had a LOT of food on Thanksgiving, but we really outdid ourselves when we put together our dessert menu. My mom baked red velvet brownies and a pecan pie. Steph brought a layered pudding dessert. I baked a spiced pumpkin cheesecake. Then Cory requested Oreo ice cream dessert (his favorite) and I couldn't refuse. Honestly, ladies, if your man is ever mad at you-- make this and all will be forgiven. Promise. Nobody can resist the smell of the fudge sauce while it's boiling.

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we went ahead and put up our Christmas tree. We were going to wait until the weekend, but my FIL, Roger, had Radiation therapy on Wednesday and wasn't going to leave the hospital until Thanksgiving day, so we put the tree up a little early so he could help us and it wouldn't over tire him.

Roger's really amazing. He knows how to take a few spools of ribbon, some floral stems and make the tree look incredible.
Our tree looks beautiful.
Their trees? Insanity. You should also see the wreath he made to hang over their fireplace.
What I like about what he did with our tree especially was mixing in ornaments that matched the "color scheme"while at the same time using all of our ornaments. It makes the tree so much more us, while at the same time making it beautimous. real word in my world.
And did you see? Santa already brought me my gift early. But tried to hide it under the tree.
He's funny-I'm hoping next year with his increased capacity for understanding language and logic, we can explain to him that playing under/with the Christmas tree is a big no-no.

Finally, my sweet, wonderful friend Meredith was fantastic enough to meet me on Wednesday to give Liam his advent calendar. He is a B-I-G fan. So much so that after he gets his piece of chocolate for the day he does this:

... in an attempt to get more chocolate. Y'all, it is so funny, Zach and I both end up doubled over laughing at him. He finds that irritating, but it's just too funny. Especially when he goes over to the bar, points up at the advent calendar and starts stomping his feet. Sadly (or maybe not so, to you all) I haven't been able to capture said tantrums on video. Boo.

That's it for today. PLEASE help hold me accountable to posting every day. I might write a few posts to schedule for days I don't want to spend on my computer (Christmas Day, my dad's birthday...), but a post is a post! Let's do this, December!

ASIDE: have y'all seen the previews for Babysitting Mama on Wii???? WTF????

I HAVE to agree with your Babysitting Mama WTF?--what is that supposed to teach little girls, exactly? Thank you, Babysitting Mamas, for inspiring a whole new generation of Bristol Palins/Jamie Lynn Spearses!

P.S. LOVED your Christmas Vacation ornament so much that I bought one to put in the fella's stocking! Awesome!

I feel ya. I have taken multiple photos every week of my pregnancy (17 weeks tomorrow) but since I'm too lazy to upload, i haven't blogged about it. I also photograph shopping finds, but never blog about them and they finally go way out of style!
