travel newbie

Our trip to Port Aransas was the first time we've ever travelled with Liam.

We didn't really know what to expect. We were a little wary about how he'd do in the car-- the longest car ride he'd ever been on previously was the one to Wharton. See: 1 hour versus 3.5.

But, he kept himself entertained on the drive:

Meredith, I think I owe you a thank you note just for the blanket-- it was a life saver!

I was a little worried that Liam would be out of sorts in a strange place, but he was so interested in everything new around him, it was fun to watch him explore.
(of course, i wasn't thrilled that he was quite so excited about the door frames and the dead bugs and i would have really liked to sterilize everything before he got into it but... oy.)

I pre-made all his food for the weekend. I cut up tons of fruit and froze it. I baked bread and froze it, I pureed spinach and cream cheese... I made sure everything I took for him to eat I had prepared in our kitchen, with clean appliances.
(THANK GOD!)

One afternoon we took Liam over to Rockport, the family favorite vacation spot of my hubby's family (they've been going since my MIL was very little!) for dinner. We drove around, checked on our Aunt's condo, drove down the beach road... went to Charlotte Plummer's. He was so cute, sitting in his daddy's lap and watching the pelicans and shrimp boats.

Liam is such a chill little boy, I have to be thankful for it. I can't believe that he was as easy as he was, taking him to Port Aransas for 3.5 days, staying in that God-awful condo, experiencing whole new things, people and places... I must say, my toddler is one gem of a boy!!

Liam is such a stinking doll! He just gets cuter! You are one lucky momma that he's such a happy little traveler. :)

Haha look how much fun he's having in his car seat! Proof the journey can be as much fun (or more) than the destination!
