i named my car...

I was told today that I'm a "weirdo" for naming my vehicular mode of transportation.
My husband's has a name too...

The Doc has a beautiful 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 in the most gorgeous shade of blue. He's named it "The Beast"-- I believe in reference to the size of his engine, but I like to think that the color of the truck and its size reminds him of the character from X-Men. Comic book nerds? Anyone?

I drive a 2005 Ford Mustang in Legend Lime (and yes, I chose that color and yes, I think it rocks)-- my car's not a GT- I just couldn't find a decent picture. Her name is Marilyn the Mustang. I'm alliterative with my naming.

My mom's always named her cars...
In Norway we had Penny Passat
I can't recall the name of the station wagon she drove when we got back from Norway... it wasn't cute ;) Sorry mom.
In Australia we had Victoria Vienta
Our Explorer's name is Emma

Does anybody else indulge in naming their vehicles, or are we really that strange?
(and is it bad that I already know what I want to name my next car?)

you are so not the only one. So far in my family we have had...

Woody (the classic Chrysler mini van with wood paneling on the side)

Betsy (the blue hatch-back Toyota)

Rosie (the maroon 1988 Chrysler sedan)

and Scarlet (my 2001 beautiful Cougar from high school that my sister later totalled)

Strangely, none of the cars we have today have names. I think maybe they just used to make cars with more personality than they do now. Or maybe it's because we haven't had them for 10 plus years like we did all the others. Maybe a car name is earned.

Anyhow, digressing. Love the post, made me smile to see it on my google reader at work. :)

The station wagon was Abby Accord, and now I have Piper Pilot. My first Camaro was Cameron and Dad's was Cara. The Trans Am is Trinity. Yes, this trend goes back to my teenage years when we had Honey the Hornet and Gus the Gremlin. Naming cars is NOT weird, it's fun. Shows some imagination, too.
