The beautiful, intelligent, sweet Miss Ivy tagged me to do this, and I decided that while I did just do the 25 things, I'll do it because Ivy wants me to... but I don't think I'll be tagging myself since so many people have already done it, or been tagged by others. :)
1. My dog Jethro's full name is Jethro Bodine Clampett Clark (Beverly Hillbillies), my dog Shiner's full name is Shiner Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Boch Clark, my cat Lily's full name is, according to my husband, Leeloo Dallas Multipass...Multipass (The Fifth Element) while I had originally named her Lily Marie, my Mexican Red Knee's name is The Cuteness, my Emperor Scorpion's name is The Rock and my albino corn snake's name is Snowflake. I think we ran out of creativity towards the end. We've also had tarantulas named Shere-Kahn, Fluffy, Snowball and I can't recall the Costa Rican Tiger Rump's name.
2. My mom spotted my husband coming up to see his father in the stands at one of my very first high school football games. It was either the second or third, and when she picked me up at the school afterwards, she told me about this adorable blonde boy. My mom spotted him before I did. She's just that good- she somehow knew he was destined to be her son-in-law.
3. I had to unbutton my "pre-pregnancy" jeans in the middle of class today. I was embarrassed, but I don't think anybody saw me. I have finally admitted defeat, and will be buying *gulp* maternity wear this week. I was hoping to make it into my 5th month before I had to go that far.
4. I am sincerely attached to my tarantula. We weren't married when Zach bought her, and he had to get rid of Fluffy to do so, but I consider her part mine because she was for sale at PetCo for $100, but was only $50 if you had the PetPals card- which Zach didn't, but I did! Also, I am so glad she's a female, because males of the species live for a few years after their maturing molt, but females can live up to 30 years. THIRTY years. That means I will possibly be into my 50's when she dies. I really, honestly love that spider. I can't wait to get more-- I want a Goliath Bird-eater when we can accommodate one. I think Zach and I will always have tarantulas. Atleast our children won't be afraid of spiders, snakes, dogs, cats or scorpions!
5. I am not a person who has nightly TV shows usually. This, in part, stems from the fact that my favorite TV show is one from Britain and it rarely comes on in the US (however, it was on SciFi today during lunch!). However, I love to watch Dogs 101, and Zach and I watch a lot of Discovery Channel- specifically Mythbusters, Survivorman (100x better than Man vs. Wild), Dirty Jobs, Wreckreation Nation and One Way Out. Though, in April, we're hoping for a new season of Deadliest Catch- That's the only show we remember we HAVE to be home for (besides the afore mentioned Doctor Who)!
6. I can't wait to take my baby to the beach-- I am trying to talk Zach into a family (meaning the 3 of us) vacation to the Bahamas in 2010. It would be nice for the three of us to be able to get away together for the first time, and Zach's been talking about the next time he goes back to the Bahamas since we got home from the honeymoon.
7. I love to read, but have trouble finding books that I really get enthusiastic about. I have two volumes of the Sherlock Holmes stories-- the complete works. I am through the first volume and well into the second. I love, love, love the stories- I read about 2 short stories every night. I don't know what I am going to read when I've finished.
8. My two favorite movies are Kelly's Heroes and Singin' in the Rain. Kelly's Heroes is really #1 though. Kelly is played by Clint Eastwood, and the film costars Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Carroll O'Connor, Gavin MacLeod, and (my fave) Donald Sutherland. The film makes me happy, and I always sing along with the opening and closing credits, as long as I'm alone. I watch that movie on my own DVD and whenever I find it on the television. My dad and I quote it to each other- especially Sutherland's Oddball.
9. If I could have any job in the whole world, I'd want to have Robert Osborne's job- and his knowledge. I don't really want it for the TV exposure, I would just enjoy being able to share such little gems about films that people have been watching for decades.
10. I miss the Pear and Apple soda I used to drink in Norway, and these small pancakes you could buy at the grocery store- they were really sweet and so tasty right out of the bag. I miss the Raspberry soda I used to drink in Australia-- and I miss white chocolate Magnums. And Miss Maud's Mud Cake-- I have even tried to get them to ship a cake to me, all to no avail (in Perth) and I miss the Phu Thai cafe's flat bread (Melbourne)... gah, I could really use a Magnum right now. *sigh*
And for the super sweet Miss Dudman: Not all Australians do like Musk sticks-- I noticed them being much more popular in Melbourne than in Perth... Lauren always had very good taste! And no, I wasn't tempted by Tim Tams because I can get those here, now! I have a package in the cupboard at the moment and my husband is hooked!
2 kind words:
Where the heck do you get Tim Tams?! I love them! My friend brought them back when she was in Australia and I looooove them!!!!!!!!
Haha thanks for the mention and the correction re:musk sticks! (and for saying i have good taste- not sure if that's always the case but thanks all the same!) you are right on the money about the white magnums though- good golly they are amazing :)
