First things first, I am going to recommend one of my absolute favorite blogs on the web to you. Artsy Fartsy Shopaholic is one of the cutest reads, and her latest post sent me into a tizzy. I so HAVE to get my darling bubba baby boy immortalized in clay. I'm adoring these itty bitty treasures, and looking at the ones that AFS had made, I'm thinking they're well worth the money! So cute!
Moving on, I seriously hate 1) the crap that is the classification for the Grammy awards and 2) watching the "best dressed" shows afterwards only to see that they basically ignore anyone who isn't either a country star or an R&B star. Basically, I'm bitter, I was really happy that Metallica won for Best Metal Performance, because let's face it, My Apocalypse is a great song. But Rob Zombie didn't win in his category, which I think was Best Hard Rock Performance, but I can't be sure. Okay, the group who won is crap- at some point there's a dude singing in an obnoxious falsetto, and that's not ROCK. That's not soft rock. Zombie's song, The Lords of Salem, is amazing. I can't even... it kind of goes with a song from the same album, American Witch. Ugh, makes me kind of mad. Okay, and then Metallica didn't win for Best Rock Instrumental, which was kind of not cool, but whatever. The biggest load of crap in the whole debacle was when Coldplay won for Best Rock Album. I'm freaking sorry, I hate them. Those false intellectuals who keep a triangle like a metronome, I cannot stand it. Gag me, but the thing that ticked me off was that Coldplay also won for Best Pop Performance. If you WIN in the POP category, you SHOULD NOT win in the ROCK category. Meanwhile, Metallica-- a band with STAYING POWER (that's what it's called when you've been around since before I was born...)-- has put out arguably the best Metal album to hit the shelves since 1991. Freaking Coldplay. They don't even write their own music, they have to sample other ORIGINAL artists.
Onto Number 2. I watched E!'s Fashion Police this evening. They showed a bunch of celebrities that aren't singers, whatever. I don't need to see those girls from that show on MTV, but they're popular right now. They showed a lot of the ladies, and then the only men they showed were R&B guys and Trace Adkins (sp?). I just got annoyed that they spent ages talking about all these young black guys who were all dressed the same, but they didn't talk about any of the other guys. I mean, at one point they're complaining because the guys weren't "rock 'n' roll" enough. I know I keep coming back to this, but Rob Trujillo looked awesome. He's got looooong hair which is usually down (or in 4 braids... ) and he wore a pretty midnight blue button down, a silvery white shimmery jacket (so freaking cool!), jeans and cowboy boots. I thought he looked so nice, it was kind of the epitome of rock and roll. I think they should have talked about him. Why didn't they talk about Paul McCartney? Why didn't they talk about Stevie Wonder? Gah- let's talk about these MEN and not these boys, some of whom are, what, getting ready to go to prison?
All in all, I hate the Grammys. I hate them every year. They really do just pick their little favorites and give them award after award until they're finally ready to hang it up. Ugh- speaking of hanging it up-- I saw that Blink 182 is making a comeback. I don't like them. But I have to say, as little as I like them, they're a lot more talented than the hacks they've been giving awards to. I think I'm done. I just had to get that off my chest.
AAAALSO, we're going next FRIDAY to find out Baby C's gender. I'm warning you now- even though we'll be revealing the gender to you, we're going to hold off on releasing the baby's name until we're really ready. I think we'll wait until it's time for the baby showers to start and things like that. I'm really excited. So can't wait.
3 kind words:
I think we have the exact opposite opinion on pretty much everything above, but that's why I LOVE reading your blog. So interesting to read someone's thoughts that are so different from my own. Keep writing! :)
PS, I assume you are referring to the girls from The Hills/The City? Were they there?
I hate all the award shows. Just don't watch them any more. Hate, hate, hate them. I don't care what anyone wears (well, except Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson) and these young chicks all look the same. GAG! Thank the good Lord above I never wanted to be famous - what a complete bore.
Hi! please add me to your list-- mknake@gmail.com
