(seer)sucker punch

If.....

you have been paying attention, you know that I am a) looking for a seersucker dress for somebody's birthday party and b) having one heck of a time.

Today, while walking around the Galleria with my parents, we passed the Betsey Johnson store which had this dress:

I flipped out. Not only because I'm having such trouble finding seersucker, but because the second dress was EXACTLY what I had imagined because it came with a halter style neck strap. I practically threw my son at my dad, and dragged my mom into the store, in search of the beautiful blue seersucker dress.

I found it. IN my size. Mom asked how much it was and I believe my response was along the lines of "I don't even care."

Until I saw the price tag.

$350.

OUCH.

It still stings. So I came home to pursue the dress online, in hopes that I'd find it in the regular section of Betsey's website, with various sizes sold out, letting me know I would soon see my coveted dress on the sale rack. No. Such. Luck.

New Arrivals. Oy.

So I looked further, online, and have found a few that are a little, kind of like what I want. Jessica Simpson's line has a couple dresses in seersucker... but I'm not really a fan.

And then there's this one... which isn't as bad, too.

What do you think? Yellow IS one of the party colors, but I'm not a big fan of the bri-ii-iii-ght piping.

Something some *other* dress isn't.

But I'm still seriously considering this. And this. THOUGHTS? (I personally really love them both, but they're not what I initially envisioned. I'm open, though.)

Is seersucker really expensive fabric? Am I missing something? Never thought I'd have to be looking at such a high price bracket for a summer dress. I guess it's a good thing I think seersucker is super cute and timeless.
