... with a white picket fence

Say "hello" to my dream home! After I saw this in the February 2009 issue of Southern Living Magazine, I decided it was the perfect house for my family! Named Elberton Way, this nearly 3500 square foot abode is perfect. Of course, the "sunlight basement" foundation is not really going to be an option, and I want to take the mud room between the garage and kitchen and put in a door to the backyard instead of having a bunch of cabinetry and make that the dog's room. Then, in the unfinished space upstairs, we can build the room that Zach wants for his "exotic" pets. A room with humidity and individual climate controls, and a sealed door.

Of course, this is the dream-home-build-it-eventually place (obviously, because we don't want to be unrealistic). Look at that wrap around porch, and the beautiful fireplaces! And we figure it's going to be just fine not having a guest room, because nobody is really going to want to stay with us when they realize that there are either spiders, snakes, scorpions or some other form of creepy crawly in every room in the house. And two bathrooms upstairs means no children-bathroom squabbles, the loft will be a perfect play space.

I just had to share that... Of course, we'll be looking for a house of our own around year's end so we're thinking, but not looking to build- and certainly not a 3500 sq. ft. home! My mom suggested looking at foreclosures, which is a bit of a hassle in that you can't negotiate with a bank as far as things an inspection might find, and you have to wait a while between offer and move-in, but we're not in a hurry and we don't have a deadline... besides, it'd be nice to capitalize off of somebody else's mistake! (I'm hoping for a mistake with a big yard and a p-o-o-l!)
