1/2 way through!

So I think I was in a total daze this morning when I was writing my initial post. I have SUCH pregnancy brain (which, they believe is because pregnancy causes a decrease in the woman's brain cells (i think) and thus in the mental capacity of said woman) and I was so preoccupied with the whole running my husband's errands thing that I totally overlooked the fact that today, I am OFFICIALLY 1/2 way through my pregnancy!

What!? How?

It's nice, though, because I'm FINALLY feeling the baby! I love, love, love, love feeling the baby move. I have not enjoyed being pregnant, I am not going to lie, but when I feel that little rumble, it makes it much better, it makes it feel more real, I guess. The baby certainly is its mother's child, mom said I used to kick her when she'd lean into her desk when she was pregnant with me, and I leaned on the counter today while I was doing the paperwork for the truck and felt an irritated little flutter. I laughed. I think the guy helping me thought I was crazy. Oh well.

So it might be a little early, but Meredith has me thinking about what I want to do for the baby's first birthday party. Zach recently told me that not everything has to be Disney. While, in general, I think everything is better with Disney, I decided that since the nursery is all Disney and I know there will be plenty of Disney toys and clothes, it might be nice to throw Zach a bone. So I've decided on...

Seriously, how cute will that be? I think it's a great theme, it'll work well for either gender, and it'll be a lot of fun to collect all the stuff for the party. Also I'm determined to make the cake myself. I don't want my baby's cakes made in a bakery (unless it's the Bavarian Cakery... they made our wedding cakes and we've got one to be picked up tomorrow. So insanely yummy!) when I know I can do it myself. My initial thought is to make the birthday cake in the image of the actual board- I even know how I'd want to go about it... but I'm thinking that a cute tiered cake with the characters on it could be fun as well, and it'd be a great way to incorporate all sorts of candy into the design. I'll have to sketch a few out... but I'm looking forward to it. The baby's individual cake (because I think it's so NASTY to serve cake to your guests after your infant has had its fingers in it) will be smaller, and I will put one of the characters on top. NO fondant for the baby- just buttercream and royal icing. I wouldn't eat fondant by choice, I'm certainly not feeding sugar dough to my baby!

And, the theme will give me a great chance to set up a really cute candy bar as favors! I'm so excited, I love my theme, and I know everyone thinks I'm bonkers for starting so early on the planning, but I'm always looking for an excuse to start thinking about the next cake I'm going to go all out on!

That's about all for now. This is probably the last post for a few days... I doubt I'll have time to get on the computer tomorrow, and Friday is all a bit busy... so wait in suspense! Wish me luck in my drive back to Richmond...  Zach and I decided it would be best for me to bring Jethro back with me tomorrow because he doesn't do well when he's locked up for hours and hours, and since we have no idea when Zach will be home tomorrow night, it just seemed more reasonable that he come with his mama. In mama's Mustang. My dog weighs 105 lbs. In the back seat of a Mustang. Seriously. It will be a trip.
